Recently I hear many things about barefoot running. It seems to be a strong trend.
Does anyone with PF tried to run barefoot?
What do you think about barefoot running?

I run about 6 miles a week in Vibram 5 fingers and 5 more miles with running shoes. I started running in VFF two years ago and I think they helped to cure my Plantar Fasciitis. I would have run barefoot but I am afraid to cut my feet so I just use the Vibram as an injury prevention tool.

It has been a month since I started running barefoot on a treadmill - 4 times a week 5 minutes each time. it is nice and interesting but I don't feel anything much different yet.

Barefoot running is a relatively new approach for running. It is recommended to take it very easy in the beginning. There are people who say it has cured their injuries like josh here, but there are also injury-free runners who developed sport injuries after starting to run barefoot at once.

I never will understand the idea of exposing myself to further injuries in order to cure existing injuries. It seems to me kind of irresponsible to run barefoot and get bruised in order to cure my plantar fasciitis.
This is indeed a short term trend and will be forgotten ten years from now.

    Hello Roy
Since I'm running barefoot for about a year I want to let you know that barefoot runners has no PF. If you want to understand how can you run without injuries read Chrisopher McDougal's book Born to Run. It's a very interesting book about running as a subject even if you are not interested in barefoot running. if you are(!) interested in barefoot running so McDougal has a good blog. You can also check out the Barefoot Runners Society at:

    Good luck!
