I am new to this forum and I wanted to get your ideas and experience with orthotics.
Two weeks ago my doc diagnosed my painful foot as plantar fasciitis. she recommended rest, ice and custom made orthotics. She said that since I am overpronating I can benefit from the use of good arch support. The orthotics thing is expensive and although it is partially covered by my insurance I am not sure if I want to buy them.
    Did you buy any orthotics?
    Did it help you?
How do you feel about buying them?
    Thanks

    Hi mich
I was suffering from heel pain for a long time until I decided to go to a podiatrist. My podiatrist found that I have Plantar fasciitis and said - rest, ice and custom made orthotics. I had my feet molded and had to wait a 2 weeks until the orthotics were ready. When my feet first felt the comfort they were singing with joy. I had to make a little adjustments but since then I have never taken the orthotics of my feet. I love these orthotics and it is over a year since - I say go for it!

I have custom orthotics because I overpronate. They have worked for me since they have stabilsed my gait and posture. Still I have to work on my core stability by foot strengthening and stretching. I can't say I am very happy about them but I do use them all the time.
I think you should take a good look at your shoes before you invest a fortune in orthotics - It did cost a fortune to me.

I am using these inserts for a few years, at the recommendation of my podiatrist. I have been battling with plantar fasciitis and heel pain on and off and he recommended inserts and offered me a pair. I have been surprised that in a matter of weeks my pain has vanished. They feel a little weird as well as hard in the beginning. I am buying new ones on a yearly basis. Now got myself two pairs in order to insert them in the two pairs of shoes I use almost all of the time without the need to swap all the time. I seriously feel my feet and heel pain coming back if I spend a lot of time in shoes without them. They well worth the money!

I only speak from my personal experience. Since we all have unique physical structure and feet this might not work for someone else. I work on my feet all day. In the last five years I've experienced on and off heel pain from plantar fasciitis . I did try many over the counter products and have seen professionals before. I don't want surgical treatment or occasional cortisone shots. This product: Dr. Scholl's Heel Pain Relief Orthotics - works very well for me. I would say it alleviates most of the pain.

I am using custom made orthotics also as well as taping. Before I started to use them I used "superfeet" that were also good.
you can buy them in this website or you can find them in some sports stores. If you want simply just some more cushioning, I had a good experience with the light blue inserts by profoot. I have a few problems with my feet so I have a long experience with many of these products.

I had plantar fasciitis in the past. I was in lots of pain. My Doctor recommended the custom made orthotics to me. Furthermore , i discovered that this company which manufactured those orthotics would also remake a sandal so that I can fit in my custom orthotics. I also did much of the stretches that my doctor recommended. It took some time, however I am great today and the pain has never returned.
